California is committed to net zero energy and net zero carbon building codes. Passive House principles, pioneered in Germany circa 1990, embody a design and construction process that has been proven to significantly reduce energy consumption in both residential and commercial buildings. With tens of thousands of certified buildings worldwide, It is currently being evaluated for inclusion in California’s 2019 Reach Code recommendations and as a prescriptive alternative for the 2022 energy code cycle.
