CABEC 2020 Brown Bag Webinar Series #1, Jan 15th, 2020: Interested in learning more about local Energy Reach Codes in California?

Interested in learning more about local energy reach codes? More than 60 California jurisdictions are considering or in the process of developing these ordinances to meet Climate Action Plan or other General Plan targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions or implementing cleaner technologies. Historically, only a handful of jurisdictions passed reached codes, but with the increase in activity for the 2019 code, it’s likely that most consultants will work on projects in these regions.

Energy efficiency consultant Misti Bruceri will lead the webinar on behalf of the Statewide Utility Codes and Standards Program, leveraging her expertise in energy efficiency programs and building code compliance to walk attendees through the ins and outs of reach code adoption and implementation. She will provide a description of the most popular structures for reach codes, specific requirements, as well as a list of jurisdictions that have adopted or are in the process of adopting reach codes. In addition, she will provide an introduction of the wide array of resources available now, and new resources being developed for both local government staff and the building community. Attendees will also learn how to quickly identify if a reach code is applicable to their projects.
