Associate Energy Analyst (AEA) Accreditation

CABEC’s Associate Energy Analyst (AEA) accreditation

The Associate Energy Analyst (AEA) accreditation is designed for professionals working with California Building Energy Efficiency Standards who are developing the experience or modeling expertise needed to become Certified Energy Analysts (CEAs).

The AEA program is ideal for:

  • New professionals entering the energy industry
  • California Energy Commission staff
  • Utility staff
  • Building officials and plan examiners
  • Architects and engineers
  • Manufacturers and related industry professionals

Separate AEA accreditations are available for Residential and Nonresidential Energy Standards.

The AEA designation recognizes candidates who successfully pass the multiple-choice portion of the CEA exam. It serves as an intermediate credential for professionals seeking advanced knowledge of California Energy Code requirements or working toward full CEA certification.

Candidates must:

  • Be a current CABEC member in good standing
  • Pass the multiple-choice portion of the current CEA exam
  • Complete the Professional Practices Workshop (PPW) on the CABEC website
