Zero Net Energy and Building Energy Code Senior Technical Specialist (TSP4)
Based on experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, architecture, building science, environmental science, city planning, energy/public policy or related discipline.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience working in building science, or related engineering or policy background.
- Must have SIX (6) or more years of experience in building science, sustainability and/or working with building energy codes.
Position overview:
This is a critical position within Codes & Standards.
The position holder will primarily be responsible for continued development and implementation of the zero net energy program for residential new construction.
Responsibility for improving Title 24 Part 6, Tile 24 Part 11 and Title 20 compliance within the construction industry in Southern California.
Responsibility for preparing the construction and utility industry for the pending ZNE energy code.
Broader technical proficiency will be needed for other ZNE work streams.
Typical Responsibilities:
Performing complex building energy analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations.
Gathering, integrating, and synthesizing complex building science information in order to develop innovative zero net energy (ZNE) solutions.
Managing cross-functional teams and consultants within and outside of SCE to address and solve business and technical issues and problems.
Perform outreach to building “Authorities Having Jurisdiction” (Chief Building Officials and their staff) in California.
Writing, developing, reviewing and commenting on complex technical energy code material including classroom materials and presentations
Developing programs and plans that integrate the processes of development, design, and construction of buildings including the permit, inspection, entitlement, and financing processes; provide expertise within the building industry,
