Building Energy Analyst or Trainee

Rick’s Energy Solutions is seeking a qualified building energy analyst to provide analysis, documentation, and field testing/inspection of project energy efficiency and/or green features. Applicants must possess knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, green building and sustainability. The energy analyst will work collaboratively with clients and other team members to provide analysis and consultation on energy efficiency and sustainability
in building construction.

Key responsibilities include:
* Application of knowledge and understanding of California Title 24 residential energy code and modeling tools.
* Utilizing energy modeling applications and spreadsheets;
* Performing and reviewing building energy models, HERS Ratings and reports.

Required Education and Certifications:
* BA in construction technology, energy management, or related field; or equivalent work experience;
* Current Residential CEPE or CEA or the ability and motivation to become certified;

Preferred Skills:
* Experience within the building industry related to analysis of energy efficiency and green building;
* Experience with modeling techniques and tools related to energy (EnergyPro, EnergyPlus, eQUEST, etc.);
* Knowledge of energy efficiency or green building programs (CALGreen, GPR, HERS, CAHP, NSHP and Passive House).

Applicants must possess knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, green building and sustainability. The green building specialist will work collaboratively with clients and other team members to provide plan review, inspection, testing and consultation on green building and sustainability in building construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:
*Application of knowledge and understanding of the California Green Building Code, California Energy Code, Build It Green GreenPoint Rating manual, and or LEED for Homes.
* Researching and applying building techniques, methods and materials to achieve green building and energy efficiency in building consulting.
* Field testing and verification inspections for green building compliance.

Required Education and Certifications:
* BA in construction technology, energy management, or a related field; or adequate equivalent experience in building energy management and sustainable construction.
* Current ICC CALGreen Special Inspector Certification or ability and motivation to become certified.
* Current Build It Green GreenPoint Rater certification or ability to become certified.
* Current CalCERTS HERS rater certification or the ability and motivation to become certified

Preferred Skills:
* Multi-disciplined experience within the building industry related to green building techniques.
* Experience with modeling techniques and tools related to green building and energy efficiency.
* Knowledge of green building and energy efficiency programs such as CALGreen, GreenPoint Rated, and HERS.

Position overview:
This is a critical position within Codes & Standards.
The position holder will primarily be responsible for continued development and implementation of the zero net energy program for residential new construction.
Responsibility for improving Title 24 Part 6, Tile 24 Part 11 and Title 20 compliance within the construction industry in Southern California.
Responsibility for preparing the construction and utility industry for the pending ZNE energy code.
Broader technical proficiency will be needed for other ZNE work streams.
Typical Responsibilities:

Performing complex building energy analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations.
Gathering, integrating, and synthesizing complex building science information in order to develop innovative zero net energy (ZNE) solutions.
Managing cross-functional teams and consultants within and outside of SCE to address and solve business and technical issues and problems.
Perform outreach to building “Authorities Having Jurisdiction” (Chief Building Officials and their staff) in California.
Writing, developing, reviewing and commenting on complex technical energy code material including classroom materials and presentations
Developing programs and plans that integrate the processes of development, design, and construction of buildings including the permit, inspection, entitlement, and financing processes; provide expertise within the building industry,
