CABEC is often asked if one must legally be certified to complete Title 24 documentation, which provides calculations demonstrating a building’s compliance with the California Energy Efficiency Standards.
At this time certification is not required of those preparing Title 24 compliance documents. However, we encourage those doing Title 24 work to educate themselves about the “Code” (Title 24, Part 6 of the California Code of Regulations) by attending classes and meeting the requirements to become certified as a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA) for the 2013 Standards. Click the following link and refer to Q1 at the bottom of the page for more information: FAQ’s About 2013 CEA Certification.
This Certification demonstrates to your clients, plan checkers, and many rebate and incentive programs that you have competencies in a variety of areas that will result in accurate compliance with California’s Energy Efficiency Standards. CABEC Members receive the advantage of the ongoing support and ongoing educational opportunities in the energy compliance field.
