2019 Code software

Submitter's Comment:

The 2019-Code goes into effect January 1, 2020 - just around the corner considering construction
timelines. CAHP and CABEC strongly encourage all energy consultants to test out the 2019-Code beta
software (also called research versions) before the code change. Testing will help gain familiarity with software and the new code, test how certain building designs fair, and surface bugs, errors, and missing features to inform the development team ahead of final release. This fact sheet explains the beta testing process and CEC-feedback process.

CEA Competency:
  • Competency 2: Correct application of the Energy Standards based on the project’s permitted scope of work
  • Competency 4: Creating an accurate energy model, and troubleshooting when results do not make sense
  • Competency 5: Interpreting energy performance results and making design recommendations

  1. For this first time!

We have software this early for the first time, so energy consultants SHOULD get up to speed on HOW the next code requirements will affect projects so that they can get a feel for building features they will have to recommend to clients to show compliance!
